Best cashback credit cards for petrol in Singapore

Petrol in Singapore is the one category where the pump discount and the card's cash back stack: stations give card-linked discounts at the pump, and the card adds its own rate on what's left. Some cards pay at any station, others only at named brands. The calculator ranks every card in our catalog on your own petrol spend.

your numbers

Most cards pay their bonus rate only above a minimum monthly spend, so the total matters. Spend above a cap earns nothing here.

If you mostly use one chain

These rates apply only at the merchants named, or need a condition the calculator can't check, so they aren't in the ranking. If most of your petrol goes to one of them, they can beat every card above.

  • 6% — SPC, with the POSB Everyday Card; no minimum spend; no minimum, no cap, on top of SPC's pump discounts.
  • 5% — Caltex, Shell, with the HSBC Live+ Credit Card; needs S$600 a month on the card.
  • 1.67% — Shell, with the UOB One Card; needs S$2,000 a month on the card.

What counts as petrol

Petrol is recognised by the station's merchant category code — 5541 (service stations) or 5542 (automated fuel dispensers). Shop purchases at the station's convenience store may be billed separately and coded differently. Cards that name specific brands pay their rate only at those brands' stations.

Questions and answers

Can I get both the pump discount and card cash back?

Usually the station's discount comes off the price first and the card's cash back is paid on the amount actually charged. Some bank-and-brand tie-ups don't combine with other offers — the card's terms say so where that applies.

Does the cash back apply to the convenience store at the station?

Only if the store's purchases are billed as petrol-station spend. Many are billed separately, so the card's petrol rate doesn't reach them.

Other categories

Checked against the banks' own pages and terms on 13 October 2026. Banks change rates, caps and exclusions at short notice — the card's terms on the bank's site are what counts. Tratobor takes no money from banks and has no referral links; this is reference information, not financial advice.

which card to use

Holding two or three of these cards, it's easy to forget which one pays 8% where. In Tratobor, set your country to Singapore in the account settings, add your cards — the rates fill in from this catalog — and each expense shows which card would have paid the most. Free; no bank login.
